Cairo - Alexandria

  • Day 0 :
    • Departure from Washington DC.
  • Day 1 :
    • Arrive in the Land of the Pharaoh at Cairo International Airport where you will be assisted trough Immigration & Customs, then escorted to your 5 stars deluxe hotel.
      Relax by the pool in the afternoon, then get ready for the evening welcome dinner. 
      Meals : Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner.
  • Day 2 :
    • Set out for a full-day excursion.  Begin at the Giza Plateau with the Great Pyramids of Giza. Enter the Pyramid of Cheops the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, stepping back in time some 4,000 years.
      Ride like a local on a camel, and enjoy the Great Sphinx. 
      Stop for a specialty lunch on the way to Sakkara
      Visit the Necropolis of Sakkara, a funerary complex of the Old Kingdom with numerous mastabas, and view the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world’s first stone structure ever built; visit the Serapeum, tombs of the sacred bulls of Apis.
      Head to Memphis, the ancient capital of Upper and Lower Egypt; founded by King Menes, it was the center of ruling, commerce and culture for more than 3000 years.

  • Day 3 :
    • Explore the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities (or the Grand Egyptian Museum GEM, upon its opening), home to over 120,000 relics. Then transfer to Khan El Khalili Bazaar abounding with workshops and stalls selling all manner of handmade items. The best place to buy memorable souvenirs, as well as gold or silver Cartouche with your name in hieroglyphs.

  • Day 4 :
    • A drive of about 3 hours to will take you to the Mediterranean city of   Alexandria, home of Greco-Roman culture and vestiges. Enjoy the Mediterranean Sea atmosphere visiting the city’s historical landmarks. Start by descending to the Catacombs of Kom El Shogafa.  Then head to the Citadel of Qait Bay, a 15th Century Medieval Fortress and entrance to the Eastern Harbor. It was built on the foundations of the Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
      Meals : Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner.
  • Day 5 :
    • During this full day tour, you will visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria Library, a stunningly designed modern building that resurrects the Spirit of the Ancient Great Library.  Alexandria had a great impact on the cultural, political and educational life in the Ancient World.
      Continue your tour to the Royal Jewelry Museum, located in the former palace of Princess Fatma Al-Zahraa, it contains an inestimable collection of jewels and jewelry of the Mohammed Ali Dynasty.

  • Day 6 : 
    • Before returning to Cairo, visit the Alexandria National Museum with updated exhibition technology, displaying artifacts of Pharaonic, Hellenistic and Roman periods, as well as some artifacts raised during recent underwater excavations.

  • Day 7 :
    • Head to the Citadel of Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayyuby (Saladin) and explore this most impressive defensive fortresses dating to the Middle Ages and offering an unrestricted panoramic view of Cairo.
      Visit Mohamed Ali’s Alabaster Mosque and his mausoleum, one of the most iconic monuments in Cairo.
      The next stop will be at the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. the new home of the Royal Mummies exhibited in a new interactive display using 21st century cutting-edge technology that goes beneath the wrappings, revealing their secrets, shedding light on the ritual and religious beliefs surrounding mummification in ancient Egypt. It is the first of its kind in the Arab World.
      It presents the full range of richness and diversity of Egyptian Civilization throughout the ages.
      It was opened in 2021.
    • Meals : Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner.
  • Day 8 :
    • Explore Old Coptic Cairo churches of the 4th and 5th Centuries: the Hanging Church built over the fortress of Babylon, St. Sergius Church built in the area where the Holy Family took refuge, Ben Ezra Synagogue, St. George Greek Orthodox church. 
      Continue to Islamic Cairo, also known as Medieval Cairo. Visit the Mosque of Ibn Touloun, the second oldest mosque surviving in its full original form. Next to it, visit Gayer-Anderson Museum, consisting of two restored medieval houses, one dating to 1545 AD and the other to 1631, joined at one point by a bridge, becoming one house, where this British officer, orientalist and collectors lived and filled with his collection of art, furniture and carpets. It is also known as the “House of the Cretan Woman” or Beit al-Kritiliya.

  • Day 9 :
    • Spend your morning relaxing
      Enjoy your lunch on board the "Golden Pharaoh", a pharaonic style sailing vessel cruising the Nile.
